Alprazolam is an FDA-approved medication that is used to treat panic disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), and anxiety associated with depression.

Alprazolam affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause anxiety. Alprazolam is most commonly used to relieve anxiety, nervousness, and tension associated with anxiety disorders. Alprazolam is also used to treat panic disorders.
